Full of songs from the older shows. I love R&H and its full of them if you are a serious singer i recommed it! its just a shame that it doesn't come with an backing cd

Interesting Idea. I wanted a particular song - quite a challenge to find - and Cameron Mackintosh' office (the producers) told me it was published in this paper-back anthology. I ordered it from the library and there's my song, within a book of many.

Great arrangements, taken from its original scores mostly, with notes about where in the story the song comes (most important so 'proper' singers can give a theatrical performance) and a good selection of songs and shows (I see none from The Witches of Eastwick through!), looking at the series generally. But would you really buy it? I think it is expensive just to get one volume.

I'm Baratone, but still I sing from this anthology. The series is an excellent reference of grown-up songs, not just 'popular' songs. I do admit, it is virtially impossible to get every good song into one anthology!

Good effort I would say. Rent it!

Speaking from the point of view of someone who competes in music festivals, I didn't find this book very useful to me. I knew barely any of the songs in it, and songs that I thought should have been in it, as they come from musical shows and are sung by soprano's within the shows, did not appear. However there is a book by this publisher which I feel is much more useful to someone in my position and that is the Mezzo-soprano version of this book
