Synopsis
Based upon a true story, this book tells of a Russian missionary bishop's trip to Siberia. During the teaching and baptism along the way, he learns that baptism without preparation is ritual devoid of content, and that indigenous cultures must be built upon as a foundation for Christian conversion.
From the Author
Expert on Leskoviana gives thumbs up"The question of annotating translations is of course a vexed one, some regarding all notes as distracting and pedantic, while others are grateful for their helpful explanations. Those who appreciate good annotations will admire those supplied by Michael Prokurat for On the Edge of the World. Father Prokurat has made a noble effort to track down allusions and references even natives might miss."
