5.0 out of 5 stars A great sequel and one of the best D&D novels., 17 Jul 2006
By Marinos Tsimaris "Shirrack Dracko" (Guildford, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Before i comment on the book i would like to point out that it is best read after `The Legend of Huma'.

Richard A Knaak became one of my favourite authors after this book because he proved that `The Legend of Huma' was not a lucky one off novel.

This sequel tries to convey to the reader the difficulties that Kaz the minotaur faced after the death of Huma especially with everyone judging him by what he is, a minotaur (Minotaurs are considered evil and are greeted with hostility by the `good' races). What makes his journeys more difficult is the fact that he tries to `prove' himself to the dead Huma by being noble and just. Maybe by doing so he might fill the void which his former companion created with his death.

It's a book with create battle scenes which are not far fetched and a worthy Dungeons & Dragons adventure (if you have played PnP D&D you will know what i mean). His new companion the Kender Delbin is a helpful comic relief as only a Kender can provide and his other two additional companions during the course of the story make up a nice adventuring party.
Another good addition by Knaak is `Honours Face'; a magical axe which our hero acquires during his adventure and aids him with his battle of evil. I have to say that such an item is a welcome aspect of a fantasy D&D novel and creates a feeling of fulfilment as Kaz learns its magical powers and bonds with it. A weapon worth for a true warrior.

I strongly recommend this book and if after you read you liked it, i also recommend `Knight of the Black Rose'. I am looking forward in reading `Land of the Minotaurs' next just to learn more about the adventures of Kaz the minotaur.

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy sequel!, 24 Aug 1998
By A Customer
I found this book just as good as the first one(The Legend of Huma). Kaz has been a very interesting character from the begining but in this book he takes the starring role. Richard A Knaak takes you deeper into the character and shows you what makes him tick. You start to feel for Kaz as he tries to live his life worthy of the memory of his dear friend Huma. I find that its almost nessecary that you read The Legend of Huma before reading this book. I for one belive that Kaz had many adventure following the story in this book, hopefully they will be written someday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, 14 Jun 1999
By A Customer
Amazing. This book was amazing. The mix of honour for one's race as well as honour for one's self was unique. This book had it all!

What i liked: It was realistic. The hero (Kaz) was always worried about fighting any number of foes, not " i can take on all of Krynn and win!". I also liked how Kaz disliked and distrusted magic, everyone else in Dlance seems to be for it!

What i did not like: Delbin! Incredably annoying!

Read this book!
