2.0 out of 5 stars Too disjointed to be really useful, 9 Feb 1999
By A Customer
Some good information, but the book is too disjointed to be really useful. It's a collection of separate articles by various authors. There is no index, making it difficult to quickly locate information on specific topics.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended, 25 Dec 1999
By A Customer
Why are there so many computing books like this? Virtually no editorial effort has been made, no index(!), no consistency...

If you get anything out of it at all it will be isolated snippets of soon-forgotten information.

Poor. Very poor indeed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Spend your money elsewhere., 3 Dec 1997
By A Customer
This "book" is really a collection of (magazine?) articles by different authors and thus suffers from a lack of focus and cohesion. There are some interesting scripts, but you probably already have them or their equivalent. If you can get your company to spring for it, it might be worth buying; if it's your money, there are better choices. Try Rik Farrows "Unix System Secuity: How to Protect Your Data and Prevent Intruders".
