This book doesn't beat about the bush. The very first chapter goes straight for the jugular with the rules for how and how not to use the MOV instruction. If you are a C programmer wanting to learn assembler as a stand alone language then this book is not for you. This book is very focussed and well written. It concentrates on 486 assembler, and includes many example listings to show you exactly what the authors mean. You will quickly learn the pitfalls to avoid, and where popular compilers can fall down. In short, the book covers exactly what it says in the title, but nothing more.
