Using many still shots from a video on Siege Warfare, the authors present a coherent, understandable and refreshingly unstuffy account of how a medieval siege took place. The re-enactors used in the shots take themselves very seriously yet appear to be having a good time, demonstarting mining under walls, firing crossbows, operating siege machines, scaling ladders, and generally creating mayhem. There are a lot of book available on medieval sieges and castles, but if you are looking for one which is an interesting read as well as an educational read, I can recommend this book highly.
