Product Description

Product Description

Dr Patricia Quinn, one of the leaders in the field, provides an especially detailed analysis of ADD and its impact at specific developmental stages ranging from infancy to full adulthood.

From the Back Cover

Finally, here is a book examining Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and its impact over the lifespan. Most of the published literature and media coverage has focused on ADD in childhood, with debates centering on the use of various medications in its treatment.

In Attention Deficit Disorder, Dr. Quinn looks beyond this narrow perspective to consider diagnosis and treatment from infancy to full adulthood. Chapters address ADD and the unique symptoms and problems presented at each separate developmental stage. In addition to characteristic features of the disorder at particular stages, criteria for diagnosis and treatment protocols are provided. Dr. Quinn's personal and professional expertise combine to make Attention Deficit Disorder an indispensable reference for practitioners-who will be treating a growing number of ADD clients as public awareness increases. The book brings together a tremendous amount of information-as well as dispelling misinformation-to create a solid base of knowledge for effective diagnosis and treatment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best on ADD!!!, 8 Dec 1999
By A Customer
Finally I have found a book I can read - succinct (if that's how you spell it - LOL) and factual. For example the Hallowell title is a nice little reader but too long and too much prose for an ADD'ler.

I havent' read it all - I can't - but the whole adult sections is most informative and I have the feeling someone's taking the subject very seriously. It's up2date and I finally found some info on Ritalin (more than Novartis would send me, who flogg the stuff in this country?!?) and other forms of medication.

I don't receive treatment at the moment, coz Britain's a bit behind the moon, but I feel this title helps me clear up my act to know what I want in prospective treatment and what kinda treatment I want.

A book on health that can tell me that is always worth every penny (cent in the US).

Good Stuff!!! Thanx Patricia!!!

Malin

4.0 out of 5 stars Complete review available in Mental Health Nursing; 19: 1-3,, 19 Aug 1998
By A Customer
Excellent book for practitioners concerned with lifespan development issues as they relate to ADD.The references are extensive, scientific, and appropriately intepreted. It not only presents the lastest on the biophysiology of ADD, but also adds information on psychosocial factors. The author includes diagnostic tools and guidelines that can be used by lay and professionals alike. Overall, this is an excellent addition to the field.
