About the Author

Lyn Pratt has been involved with Bullmastiffs for over thirty years, and has enjoyed great success with her Kelwall affix. In partnership with her husband, she has bred six British Champions, including two Group winners and a Reserve Best in Show winner at Championship shows. The kennel is particularly well-known for its brindle dogs, having bred the first brindle Champion for 20 years, and Kelwall bloodlines are sought after worldwide. Lyn is an international Championship Show judge. She has judged Bullmastiffs at Crufts, and she has travelled to Canada, Germany and Sweden on judging appointments. She is well-known in the canine press, and has contributed to Bullmastiff publications in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Germany, as well as writing the weekly breed notes for the UK's weekly paper, Our Dogs. --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

2.0 out of 5 stars eh., 4 Feb 1999

If your only interest in buying this book is info about show dogs, you're in good hands. If you're just looking for info about the dogs as pets, about half the book is relevant. Maybe. Well written and informative, but a little too rah-rah. The dogs seem to do everything but walk on water and heal the sick. There's definitley a void of information about health problems and downsides of owning one.

Great for owner and showsters, but not for people looking for general information about a potential pet.

Unless you're really into looking at pictures of canine orthodontia.

3.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for SHOWING Bullmastiffs, 28 Jun 2000
By A Customer
The book is good - if somewhat misleading. It's simply not aimed at the average owner. Lots of show information and breed history. Not much else. Very well written - if it's what you're after...

I do not agree with everything this author states. Overall I think this to be a well done book.
