5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic handbook for quilters everywhere, 5 Aug 2002
By A Customer
This is a superbly helpful book for quilters, applique and patchwork makers of all levels. Well illustrated with coloured drawings and photographs, and laid out in alphabetical subject order, it covers almost every conceivable aspect of quilting and related activites, by hand and machine. As Pahl is the editor, not the sole author the reader is spared the there-is-only-one-way-to-do-this syndrome, and the more than 60 authors of the various sections means that the approaches remain fresh, and that even the most experinced quilter is bound to find some new tips and hints. Each topic is covered not with a short snippet of information, but with an article, usually of several pages in length. The book is up-to-date in its coverage of the various aspects of quilting, including techniques that have really only become popular in the last few years, such as foundation piecing, celtic applique and using compputers to aid design. A great addition to any shelf of craft books.
