This books is a must for any dolls dressmaker as it not only covers every aspect of French doll's dressmaking (undergarments are not included) it also tells you about the history of France in the Mid 19th century and has over 90 illustrations from old receipts to how to make the dresses.

What I found very helpful is that the book has photographs of both the front and the back of the dresses which makes a change from having to use one's imagination of what the back will look like once the garment is finished!!

The patterns are easy to follow and although there are a lot of details in the dresses if the instructions and illustrations are followed one should have no problems with the making of the dresses.
