While the tactical 1911 is a good book, it is barely more than anything else out there. The book is quite informative as far as basic marksmanship and moving with a firearm is concerned, with the usual mental-preparation and mindset advice, but in reality there is almost nothing to set this book apart in the crowd. The author is a fine and recognised pistolsmith, but most of his 'smithing advice and information seems tinted by an out of date attitude and a blatant mistruse of anything modern. This shows most in oppinions like choosing .45 FMJ over JHP, and obsessing over the 1911's superiority over every other arm in the world.
Also, I found the book a little too basic for SWAT and police, it looked and read more like a book aimed for concealed cary license holders and amateur gunsmiths than a book for people who daily put their fire-arm between them and dangerous individuals.
Granted, this is a good place to start with tactical shooting, but I'd much rather go for Gabriel Suarez's books...
