4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good on the whole, 2 Oct 2002
On the whole, this is a good book which covers all the major small-arms in use with the major armies in the world today, and a great deal of previously used weapons. The weapons are grouped conveniently first by type, then by the country that uses them. An index is also provided, making it very easy to find the weapon you are looking for quickly. In my opinion, there are just a couple of problems with this book. Firstly a couple of relatively popular guns are not included. The most obvious is the lack of any kind of mention of the colt m4 carbine, even though it appears prominently on the front cover. The second problem is that grenade launchers and RPGs are missing, although this is not too bad, it would have helped make the book a more comprehensive guide. The third problem is that some of the picture captions are wrong which can be extremely misleading.

But anyway, this book is comprehensive, well-written and illustrated and despite a few small problems, an excellent buy -

4/5
