Product Description

Synopsis
Athearn HO scale model railroad equipment has been a popular choice for hobbyists over the last 50 years. Here, the company's complete production history has been assembled into a comprehensive catalogue of Athearn models available. It details 4000 models, 2200 of which are out of production, with checklists and information to identify both rare and common kits.

From the Author
Description of subject matter
This book is the most comprehensive volume published to date covering the history of plastic locomotives, freight and passenger rolling stock, train sets, and accesories manufactured by Athearn Inc. of Compton, CA. Photos in the book detail numerous out of production items, plus many special run and promotional pieces made by Athearn over the last four decades. Also included are listings of factory error items, and the many pieces manufactured by Athearn for other manufacturers, such as Lionel, Atlas, MDC, and others. The format of the book is specifically designed to aid the collector in identifying and cataloging the thousands of items in the Athearn line. Originally started as a means of tracking our own collections, it has expanded to the work here today, and we felt that it could be a useful tool for other collectors of these fantastic HO trains. We both hope you enjoy reading and using this book as much as we have enjoyed gathering the information contained in it. Thank you for your interest. Tim and Ed
