As most books on hamsters concentrate on Syrian hamsters, with dwarves getting only a brief mention, Henwood's guide to dwarf hamsters should be considered essential reading for anyone considering owning one of these little critters. The guide looks at the three species of dwarf hammy kept as pets: the Robrovskis, Campbells, and Winter White. Although it is not technically a dwarf hamster, the Chinese hamster is also covered. After looking at the 4 species, the book goes on to detail the care of hamsters. This section is divided into areas on handling and taming, selecting, feeding, housing, breeding and health problems. Obviously, no one book can cover everything a pet owner might need to know, but this one comes as close to that as possible!

We are brand new owners of a cute little dwarf hamster named Ginger Ann. This book got us started on the right track quickly. Easy for beginners to understand. Highly recommended !
