4.0 out of 5 stars Good for students of the Bujinkan, 9 Jan 2002
By A Customer
I'd rate this book for any student of the Bujinkan (taijutsu) but for an outsider its not very clear and I would recommend Ninjutsu History and Tradition by Masaaki Hatsumi. The book is divided into parts (i) several short essays, which in my opinion are quite good. Part (ii) itself covers a number of techniques from rolling, wrestling, throwing and defence against armed attackers. I'd like to re-iterate though its not for a DIY martial artist and unless you've seen the style yourself the pictures are not going to help you, that last comment comes from the reviewer who mentiond that the stances were 'spider legged' which I agree with but until you see or practice the style it does look a little unwieldy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not informative enough, 8 Oct 2001
By rainbowtoh@yahoo.com (Darlington, UK) - See all my reviews
I found the book helpful in pointing in the right direction regarding training, but found that it only touches the surface of these basic techniques. However it does cover basic stances in a more informative way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great balance between philosophy and practical demonstration, 6 April 1998
By A Customer
Mr Daniels provides a great balance between the philosophy, the history of taijutsu, and the practical demonstration on the ninja art. Not for the DIY martial artist, but a good book for martial arts pracitioners who would like a peak at the ninja art of unarmed combat.

If this man knows anything about correct body movement please make him show it. If ninjas moved like this no-wonder that none survived into the 20th century. Read more
