5.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD BASIS FOR YOUR STUDIES, 9 Mar 2001
This book provides excellant information on a varity of physiological topics. It gives you the facts, no more and no less and provides you with an excellant basis for revision. I would highly recommend this book to anyone studying physiology/human biology at degree level.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent textbook., 7 Jun 2006
This book was recommended by a tutor at my medical school. I borrowed the slightly older version from the library and found it an exceptionally useful resource.

The good points of this book - it is well structured, with a topic list at the beginning of each chapter. It has very, very good diagrams which are clearly drawn and easily comprehensible. The text is very well written and concise, giving the perfect level of detail expected at undergraduate level.

The bad points - only one, really, and this applies to physiology text books in general. Never absolutely accept what is said in a book as gospel truth - it could be that I was using an older version of this book, but I found myself embarassed when I quoted from this book, only to be corrected by a lecturer who pointed out that new research has rendered some facts in older books incorrect. Although I assume that the latest version of the book is completely up to date I would advise cross checking with lecture notes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great summary for medical students, 3 Jan 2006
By A Customer
I found this book in the library at the end of my first year in medical school. It was a great way of escaping Martini and Tortora, as well as the more advanced physiology books by Boron, Guyton and Hall, Berne and Levy etc. It is a bit more advanced than Martini and Tortora, but very concise. I liked it a lot, and it provided me with necessary info to get on top of the physiology curriculum for a 1st year medical student. I would recommend it.
