2.0 out of 5 stars Lonely Planet Morocco, 9 Aug 2002
By SAM (Great Britain) - See all my reviews
I usually swear by Lonely Planet their books are usually concise and up to date and hardly ever misleading. They are also usually balanced in a way that every budget of traveller can use them.

This book though failed on these counts. I felt that this book was not helpful to people travelling on lower budgets. Also I found this book aimed, as a male reader, towards women, this is not an out and out criticism, it is just a departure from the usual Lonely Planet style. Also I found basic information, like locations of ATMs, internet cafes, banks, bus stations and bus timetables, in more out of the way places incorrect. Also its recommendations of lower budget hotels had much to be desired.

This book has made me reasses my trust in Lonely Planet and I know a travel book can not be all things to all men. But I would not recommend this book to any budget traveller going to Morocco. Though I would to anyone travelling on a mid to top range budget and not going off the beaten track.

5.0 out of 5 stars an essential guide to all visit such a diverse contry, 12 Oct 2000
By A Customer
This guide offers you an insite into both the culture of the the country and the people who live there. It allows you to learn the geographical and political history of the country, The information on accomadtion and food is first class it. The local information on sight seeeing is also excellent with a short but useful paragraph's on most main attractions. The advice about treking in the altas mountains is also first class with the information about the location of hostels and useful town correct every time. I found this guide one of the most usefulI I have ever bought and will use lonley planet a great deal more in the future. The morrocean arabic phrase book is also very useful when out of the large towns, were arabic is more spoken than french.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic level of research and detail, 22 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This has to be the book for travelling in Morocco. One slight criticism though is it does not prepare you for the fantastic amounts of hassle you will receive as a tourist. Overall, superb.
