5.0 out of 5 stars So many creative ideas!, 9 Feb 2002
By Grace K. Sheehan "thesilverpennydotcom" (Cape Elizabeth, ME United States) - See all my reviews

This one isn't a repeat of the first book in this series - not at all! Instead it focuses more on creating small figures, toys, dolls, fairies and landscapes for a Seasonal Table. The project photos are breathtaking, although to make them is very easy if you understand the basics of felting and winding wool. It also contains a short, but detailed section on dyeing wool using plants and other natural materials. (Even if you don't dye your own wool, you'll appreciate the process.) The hand-felted interactive play mats, complete with hidden spaces, are a completely new idea that children will enjoy using with their new felted animals and dolls. There are so many delightful ideas in this book; you and your children won't know where to start!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for me, 7 April 2009
By A. H. Ford "petiteamour" (England) - See all my reviews

This book would be great for children or someone just starting out in wool crafts but I do not think the description makes this clear. If you just want something to do with the kids on a wet Sunday afternoon or maybe in nursery classes it's just right. Raw materials are not too expensive - woolfleece that you could dye yourself or buy ready done on ebay or any number of on line sellers or even pick out of the hedge rows and then add imagination. A picture or soft woollen figure can be made very quickly. It wasn't right for me as a crafter of 43 years experience who wants to have my boundaries challenged.
