Thorough, yet amusing and easy to read., 16 Oct 2000

This book manages to give a good summary of Scotland's history while still being an amusing and easy read. It covers the whole history of Scotland, without being scared of showing the downside, but retains a sense of homour throughout. Think of "1066 and All That" combined with a serious history book.
