I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's easy to read, the characters are great (Chase & Jessie, you know it's going to end ok, but boy do they take their time getting there). Unlike 'Angel', I enjoyed the western setting of this book and even though I sometimes thought Jessie was a bit too spit-and-saw -dust to be attractive, her attitude is explained well and allows you to believe her character. The only bit I didn't like was the spanking. In some of the other books, yep, ok it fitted the plot but this one didn't seem too necessary despite Jessie's immaturity towards Rachel and Chase. I'd have thought Jessie would have punched his lights out, given what a 'spitfire' she is throughout the book, but there you go. If you love this, as I did, try 'Savage Thunder' which leads on from this, telling the story of White Thunder, or Colt as he's called in the book now that he's entered western society. That's equally entertaining, although I'd steer clear of 'Angel' (the third book, after Savage Thunder) which is the only JL book I've never finished. Have tried it three times but just can't get to grips with the characters.

Sometimes you wonder why Jessie's mother or Chase put up with Jessie, she's a total spitfire but then that's what makes the book so compelling. Chase was given an appropriate name by Ms Lindsey as he spends most of his time chasing after Jessie. I found this book fast, funny and wonderful to escape to.

Brave the Wild Wind is one of Lindsey's best in my opinion. It is dramatic, and their is a easy rhythm to the book that makes it almost impossible to put it down. Great work.
