4.0 out of 5 stars Essential for the amateur boxer - the 'Bible of boxing', 3 Mar 2000
By A Customer
Great manual of boxing - covers all the basic moves (punches, evasion, footwork) in a clear fashion. Also a superb section on boxing fitness - numerous running and sprinting drills and explanation of peak /offpeak training. No substitute for being taught in a gym but still a really useful companion to training.

4.0 out of 5 stars basic boxing manual, 26 Mar 2001
An excellent introduction to boxing. Very clearly written and with a sound, balanced perspective on the noble art. A few omissions, in particular good information on combinations, and also lacking things like weight category information. But a very handy section on ringcraft and strategy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Introduction, 21 Feb 2007

This book serves as a great introduction to amateur boxing. It covers a lot of the aspects a new boxer would like to know about when starting in the sport. Like the other reviewer I would have like to see some more information on combinations but other than that a very good introduction.
