5.0 out of 5 stars This is the only one to buy, 13 Feb 2003
By A Customer
I bought this book over eleven years ago when expecting twins.
(We already had two boys aged 6 and 4). This book was fascinating, from explaining MY rapid growth, the severe nausea right down to illustrating how our twins were lying. You ARE special carrying twins or more and this book encouraged me when I could barely move around and yet was very clear about the additional risks involved (The description that 'it is like having two puppies tumbling around inside' was spot on!) Our twins were scheduled to be born at home but I developed pre-eclampsia at 35 weeks and had to go into hospital for a normal, fast (1 hour!) labour. Again, the chapters were relevant and clearly written. Breastfeeding et al well covered. A must.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lifesaver for any mother (or father!) of multiples., 29 Oct 2000
By A Customer
As the mother of premature twins, this is a book I have turned to again and again. It is full of sound advice on coping with the demands of more than one baby and, more importantly, anecdotes from those who have gone before! This reassures the parent suffering from "parental task overload" that they are definitely not alone and that there is a light at the end of what can seem a long tunnel of toddlerdome! I am lucky enough to have already had one child before experiencing the demands and joys of twins. For first time parents, this book could be the most useful you could ever buy as it will reassure you that all your feelings are normal. No parent of multiples should be without it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Out of Date, 2 Mar 2004
By A Customer
My first reaction when I discovered I was pregnant with twins was to try to find a book that would tell me what to expect! This book was probably invaluable to people about 20 years ago as it was written in the early 1980's, and although it still contains some useful information, some of the facts contained within are now very out-of-date. For example, the legislation regarding the transportation of babies in cars has changed since this was first written, and so has the way that a twin pregnancy is managed by your hospital (there is no automatic bed-rest in hospital from 32 weeks any more!)Buy it by all means, but be aware that you may have to disregard or check up on some of the information it provides.
