This book is an essential purchase for classical music listeners. There are also a reasonable amount of changes from the previous edition so you might want to consider this one even though you own the previous one.
The bias of the book is somewhat "academic" in my opinion. These people really are not able to give praise to Horowitz for example.. You will also find very high marks ("3 discs") given to a non-best-seller record that you have never heard of. But this far I have been very satisfied with the not-so-obvious recommendations also.
I also wonder wether I'm the only person who senses a certain slight bias towards Brittish artist at some points? No offence to mr. Kennedy or Rattle here, of course :)
Piano music afficcionados may also find some relatively essential music completely missing - for example yesterday I noticed that Tchaikowsky's piano music is left with almost no mention (not meaning the obvious concerto).
After all, mostly very satisfying book. Maybe best suited for exploring new territories where you want to avoid bad purchases.
