Product Description

Book Description

This book covers all the important economic theory used in the AS/A level course. As all macroeconomic analysis can be broken down into its microeconomic components and vice versa, these revision notes do not stress the division between macro and micro, but rather concentrate on five integrated areas of study. These are entitled:

Unit 1 An introduction to economics
Unit 2 The industrial structure of the economy
Unit 3 The financial structure of the economy
Unit 4 The economy as a whole
Unit 5 The international structure of the world economy

Each unit is designed to help the student both understand the subject and express that understanding clearly in an examination. It is relatively easy to navigate through the book as each unit is subdivided into headings and subheadings which are weighted to illustrate their relative importance. Each page is split so that the main body of text is separated from a comments column (which is used to highlight important and interesting points) by a bar that suggests whether the content is directly related to the AS or the A2 component of the course. The book is particularly helpful to those students who have completed the AS level and will need to revise both A2 and AS componets in order to deal with the synoptic nature of the full A level.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too basic for AS and A2, 22 Jan 2004
This revision book is very out of date and much too basic for students taking AS or A2 Economics in 2004 or later. The economic data is old and many of the main themes and economic issues that might come up in the real exams are not covered at all. Really disappointing

4.0 out of 5 stars Generally good, 13 April 2003

(REAL NAME)
I purchased this book because I have brought Philip Allan books before and they turned out to be good, and this is no exception except it appears that this book does not cover content in as much detail as I would like to see. It contains the basics, but personally I would prefer it to go into a little more depth with some of the more difficult concepts.
