Baddeley has written an excellant, accessible history of Satanism that's refreshingly free of hysterical media stories and 'white lighter' garbage. Incisive, witty and honest it includes interviews with Anton Levay himself and 'modern' Satanists such as Glen Benton. Xtians will hate it's sane appraisal of Satanism, but the more open minded will find it interesting and well written.

"Irreverend" Gavin Baddeley is one of my favourite occult writers, and this is his best work to date. This book is infinitely re-readable - it is interesting, accurate, exremely comprehensive and witty. This is a no-holds-barred history of Satanism, with opinions given from all sides. A must-read for all who share an interest in the Devil and his followers!

well written, it covers the facts verses the publicity, the history, the evolution, the image, the scare mongering & media sensations, it's a serious in depth study asking very searching questions of the people interviewed, it's funny without becoming a comedy.
