From the Author
Breaks new ground on text books for fountainpen afficionadosThe aim is to publish a three volume book set. Up date the history and models, at the same time, improve on my two previous books, Fountain Pens Vintage and Modern, Fountain Pens of the World. The countries around the world have been divided into three groups: USA and UK; Europe; China and Japan. This way, every book in the set will be of handy format and at an affordable price. At the same time, we intend to use the highest quality professional photographs, unique hand produced line drawings of pens and the highest quality paper and printing.
This has been the case with our first volume, Fountain Pens -- United States of America and United Kingdom. For the first time, each and every pen has been treated as an individual color plate resulting in the most faithful reproduction ever. And the new book contains a massive 540 of such color plates. The layout has been constructed in a way that it is easy and pleasant to follow. Finally the 60 unique line drawings enhance the beauty of the pens and are very interesting to study.
In my view, Fountain Pens -- United States of America and United Kingdom fulfills the need, not only of the every day pen user but also the most fastidious pen lover and collector.
"I feel very fortunate and very proud to have had yet another opportunity to document the history of some of the greatest pen manufacturers and the pens we have come to appreciate and love so much. I owe this to the pen fraternity and to colleagues who kindly allowed me to use their works as reference or offered their pens for photography. I hope they will feel that FOUNTAIN PENS -- UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND UNITED KINGDOM has done them justice"
