4.0 out of 5 stars A clear and concise beginners guide to making silk paper, 1 Dec 1999
By A Customer
This is a beautifully illustrated book which provides a clear and comprehensive guide to how to make silk paper. The instructions provided are well written and easy to understand with the author blending a friendly writing style with a practical approach. Advice is given on the basic processes including: information about the variety of materials available, detailed instructions on dyeing techniques, the addition of inclusions such as other threads, fibres and natural materials and techniques for creating different types of silk papers. Also, there is a chapter which provides some initial stimuli for exploring the different potential uses of the paper, including using it as a sculpture medium. This latter section could have been developed much more in terms of providing ideas, especially with regards to the embellishment of the paper. Nevertheless, this book is excellent as a starting point for silk paper making and is bound to inspire people to develop their own interesting creations for art and craft work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent instructions, 15 April 2009
By Rosalind (England) - See all my reviews
I started making silk paper as soon as I had bought the book and the ingredients. It's a lovely craft- so far I've only used the results for cardmaking. The book is well written and the instructions very easy to follow
