Ok, I know I'm a little bias (being her son and all) but I've read this book and could get to grips with the concepts and information provided.

However, I preferred the film ... ;)

Just kiddin' ... but it is a worth while read. Thank you Mum, you've taught me a lot.

Ulla Maija Grace is a very respected therapist, who probably should be better known in this country than she is

Her book is interesting and very useful, she combines a discussion of principles of Chemistry, Functional groups and active constituents - but is also clearly involved in PRACTICE - so there is a lot that is about the therapeutic encounter, and she respects the fact that the essential oils are far, far, more than the sum of their chemical constituents, and that they affect clients (and therapists!) in ways which are physiological, psychological and spiritual.

Some of the safety indications fall a little too readily into the 'functional group' 'heresy?' (this may be a controversial statement!) For example, she states rosemary pyramidalis, by virtue of having the lowest ketone content has a lesser possibility of causing irritation - whereas there is another approach which says 'don't tar all ketones with the camphor brush!' and would recognise rosemary CT verbenone (ketone rich!) as being the gentlest!

These cavils aside - excellent!
