Carson gives clear comments which help to put each passage in the context of the whole Bible. Whilst it is scholarly, this book is not over-academic or dry but encourages a lively interaction with God's living word.

This book is more than a daily reading companion to the Bible (which encourages you to read completely through the Bible in one year), it provides a daily insight into the works of God both for the individual and the world at large. Each day has it's own page which explains in detail one of the readings of the day. It is a perfect sequel to volume one, which you'll want to buy after reading this book.

This part is NOT a review - but a WARNING - it is not clear whether this is only Volume 2 of the 2 volume set; OR is it now published in a single volume - the picture, fuzzy though it is seems not to indicate that.

The whole 2-volume set is brilliant. I am coming to the end of Year 2 and have found it really helpful and stimulating. I shall follow a new scheme in the year year and return to it in a year or two's time.
