Product Description

Synopsis

Fashion and lifestyle; social conventions; sexuality; women and men; world concerns; life and death; politics and economics; force and violence; the media; Question time provides a unique opportunity to give people an opportunity to grasp another perspective, to help them think carefully about the moral issues of our day, their personal outlook and their beliefs, and to see what perspectives Christianity has to offer. The result brings into vivid focus what a Christian moral view means in practice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Weaving a path through the moral maze of life, 15 Jan 2006
By Mr. J. Featherstone "jonthegreat72" (Tonbridge, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
In exhaustive detail, Cook outlines some of the moral issues, big and small, that all Christians face today. It takes us back to where we should draw our inspiration; the Bible. It is also intensely readable and intelligent writing. Each issue is broken down into three sections, 'Background to the problem,' 'society's responses,' and Christian perspectives,' and in this way gives a good overview of the topic. The major criticism that might be made is that it is often repetitive in terms of content, but there is no shortage of food-for-thought. Sexuality, Life, Death, Force and Violence, these are all topics covered in the book, some admittedly in more detail than others, but usually with good reason. If you are looking to a introduction to Christian Ethics then the book by Bernard Hoose of that name would probably be a more valuable and scholarly tool, 'Question Time' is aimed at a more explicitly Christian audience looking to honour God in the way that they live their everyday lives.
