5.0 out of 5 stars Superb analysis of the evangelical comunity today, 15 Jan 2001
By A Customer
David wells clearly and thoughfully points out how the evangelical church today is loosing sight of some of the key evangelical truths as is is influcecnced by the secular society around it. He likes this to the fall of the liberal church away from the truth yet points out that thought they did this with full knowlage, the evangelical church seems to be blind to what is happening with in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Transcendent sovereign God., 7 Oct 2007
By William Graham Alston "Absolute Word" (Scotland Glasgow UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
David Wells gets to uncomfortable reality for the church of our generation when he says, "The citizens of Our Times actually believe so little in God because they believe so much in that which is modern." Then he puts his finger right on the truth when he declares, "I believe so little in the modern world because I believe so much in the Transcendent, in God as sovereign, and in hs Word as absolute." This is no superficial "read" to use a modern horrible word, but it tests and strains out much of modern church pseudo theology. Well worth reading as it makes you think honestly.Yes, whatever did happen to evangelical theology?

A fair critique of contemporary theology, combining idiosyncracy with contemporary belief in order to formulate a satistfying cocktail. Rather over-priced, however ...
