This is the second book I have read by Mr Bransby and consider him to be an officer who commands nothing but respect. I served with him during the mid-eighties and found then and since that he is the only officer in whom you feel you would follow. His first book, Her Majesty's Vietnam Soldier tells of a difficult conflict told from a unique standpoint, and if you have ever listened to him retell some of his exploits 'in the flesh' then you gain some insight into the mans' character. This book tells of his rather sudden detachment to Operation Corporate, and unlike some of the other accounts does not seek to revel in the authors' bravado or heroic deeds. It is a self effacing account of a combat experienced soldier who realises his job is only a small part of the whole but still requires total professionalism throughout. I can verify that he is indeed 'eccentric' in all the best traditions of an officer and a gentleman. His third book(second in print) "Her Majesty's Peacekeeper" I have yet to read, although I cannot yet find it anywhere. I believe will set the seal on a trilogy of books that is a must read for anyone interested in military history, or even someone who is bored with the usual wooden autobiographies that so many other so called 'veterans' churn out.
