5.0 out of 5 stars A son's honourable tribute to the memory of his mother, 15 Aug 2007
By G. Olsen "Gita" (Brussels, Belgium) - See all my reviews
This intimate, touching and astoundingly down to earth and well written portrayal of June Carter Cash is indeed a son's honourable tribute to the memory of his mother. His writing style is clear and honest and you get a sincere feeling that you are part of the life going on behind the walls of the House of Cash. An invitation so rare that one cannot but follow the lead and compassionately feel the love, struggles, joy, and sadness the Carter Cash family endured. Without being sentimental, John Carter Cash manages to share with us a remarkable and rich life-story about an admirable woman, wife and mother. For this I am ever so thankful.
I admit that if it wasn't for the mesmerising movie 'Walk the line', the biopic of Johnny Cash and June Carter, I would most likely not have discovered, let alone reading this book. But I am grateful that I did; I learned that there was a lot more to June than merely the shadow of the man in black.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anchored in Love, 3 Mar 2009
I found this book very interesting and read it in a few days. John Carter Cash writes well and you get the feeling that he's a decent man. He writes with sensitivity and his writing shows that he must have loved his parents very much. However,I was astonished to read that June Carter was also addicted to drugs like Johnny and not sure that he should have disclosed this family secret. Also there was lots of detail about the rows June and Johnny had, which sort of dispels the myth that they were love's young dream. I was expecting more info about the Cash daughters, but it would seem from his account that they were mostly absent when he was growing up. The book is very sad at the end when June and Johnny die. Well worth a read if you're a fan of June Carter and Johnny Cash.

1.0 out of 5 stars not a good story line, 22 Jan 2008
i must agree with lupe locos opinion, the story came across in bits of snippets, to much about his own drug problems and his parents and sisters.(was the family pets on drugs also??because john junior makes his home seem like everyone was high or singing songs and reading the bible!!!) i think he should have put some nice memories in the book. instead we got to hear about john junior and his problems.....for a book called anchored in love, i thought it would be about john and junes love story, john junior is not a good story teller, and at certain parts comes across as spoilt, which being the only boy he was.......... all in all this book was disapoining only reveling "open secrets", a very bad let down for what should have been a good book......................

Very sad to see John washing the family laundry in public and completely unneccesary to besmirch the family name. Read more
