Having owned 3 E28 5-series(520i and 2 525E's) I found this book full of the sort of detail that cheaper manuals sadly lack, particularly when tracking down engine management faults.The US-spec in no way detracts from it's usefulness for UK cars with only coverage for the 1.8 and 2.0litre cars (non-Motronic) being lacking, and without any of the "refer to dealer" comments that can be troublesome in other manuals.
I found the diagrams showing the location of all items to be disconnected when performing major tasks particularly useful.

Compared to the Haynes, this book gives excellent photographs, warnings on appropriate procedures, tool and chemicals to make the job easier and a section on easy to build test equipment to help in diagnostics.

Coupled with BMW's Mobile Tradition CDROM covering illustrations and part numbers, this book will save the owner significant repair costs over a BMW dealership service department or after-market repair facility.

This is a MUST OWN for anyone interested in becoming involved in simple maintenance or more complex tasks to reduce the cost of owning a great performing German automobile. Bentley Publishers excels over other reference print materials.

This is a great book. Well laid out with fabulous line drawings that actually let you understand the repair. Suitable even for relatively unskilled mechanics. Good tips and very easy to use. Contains more information than any other manual out there for these cars. I recommend it even if you never work on your car since it helps you understand it better and with its handy diagnostic tables will let you prediagnose problems and keep your mechanic honest. Buy it if you have an E28 5 series. It doesn't cover the M5 though.
