Clear illustrations and complete electrical diagrams are just a couple of this manuals greatest assets.
This manual gives comprehensive step-by-step guides for all aspects of advanced DIY maintenance, modifications, fault finding, and/or repairs for any E39 owner with intrest of these aspects.

Excellent investment!!!!!!

I have carried out quite a bit of work up to now on my 1996 BMW E39, and have found this set of manuals an excellent resource.
The descriptions of, for example, the replacement of the cylinder head gasket, are so good that I am planning to do this soon myself.
At the beginning of each chapter the writers also describe which "specialist" bmw tools are needed. This helps prevent any really time consuming delays, or nasty surprises, while in the middle of doing a certain job.
I guess it is important that the reader already has some, even relatively basic, experience of working on car engines under their belt, otherwise they might be disappointed.
I agree some things might be missing, for example how to correctly bleed a cooling system, but the most important aspects are covered very well.
This was an excellent investment, and I saved the price of the manuals probably on the first job on the car.
