3.0 out of 5 stars A good starting point, 24 Feb 2003
By A Customer
This book offers an insight into the world of the tour guide or tour director. However, as the title suggests this really is an introduction to the job. The level is fairly basic and really is only of much interest to a very novice guide or tour director. It covers the basics well but doesn't go much beyond that. All in all - a good reference for those starting out but by the time you have completed your first season you will have little need for this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Satisfied Customer, 5 Oct 2008
I have been trying to get into tour guiding for a while now and found 'Becoming a Tour Guide' an extremely valuable book which lots of tips, factual information and contacts. It clearly shows the types of guiding jobs that are available and realistically tells you the pros and cons of the job. It's not easy to get good work in the travel industry and this book has helped - I have already started some training but even better I have an interview lined up! Well done to the author - I will look out for more of her books for my next change of career!
