5.0 out of 5 stars Cubase SX/SL Mixing & Mastering, 14 Jul 2003
This 496 page book with CD not only takes you through all the functions in SX,but shows you loads of tips on how to actually use eq,compression etc and tricks of ways to create and shape sounds. The beauty of this excellent book is that just about everything as a hands on tutorial.I've had SX since it came out and I've leant the manual, reading Mixing and Mastering has increased my knowledge, not just Cubase itself but my knowledge of sequencers,200%

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic book that covers many techniques., 20 May 2004
This book is really a book on how to treat audio using cubase SX/SL. It teaches you to use SX/SL along the way. Not just what buttons to press, but what to actually do with it! It deals with mixing, managing and mastering your projects using Cubase. It has dedicated chapters on Reverb, Dynamics and EQ. The mastering section, while tiping a nod to the 'golden ears' required for proper mastering, recognises that many hobbists will not want to send their projects off for mastering and will want to 'do the best they can using Cubase SX/SL. The book covers this in a practical and pragmatic way. It also has important tips and techniques on mixing in ways to allow a mastering house to create the best master they can. I think the book is wonderful. It is honest about the shortcomings of Cubase and recommends other plugins where appropriate; and it is from the Stienberg Press. Also there are some damn sneaky, damn clever audio treatment tips in the book! Things that I would never have though of trying, but can't wait to try now! GET IT!!!
