4.0 out of 5 stars Keep Practicing!, 9 Jan 2004
This book gets you into the techniques of many different famous saxophone players that are around now. It trains you to listen to music better with more attention as well as playing and improvising. It comes with 2 CDs telling you about each style of each saxophonist and what things you can do to get playing like a real pro.
It's like being taught by 20 teachers and I'm sure every saxophone player will get something out of this book.
I have to warn you though. Buy this only if you like practising and only if you have enough experience. This is real pro stuff not easy begginer stuff.
It's a great book though and I recommend it if you're really interested in Jazz technique and improvising.

4.0 out of 5 stars Learn *some* practice methods of *some* pros, 22 April 2008

By no means a complete overview of how to practice (like the pros or otherwise).

Having said that, there are some really great contents for helping intermediate players improve.

Well worth buying if you're serious about practice and improving (whether Jazz or Classical).

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for beginners, 3 Dec 2007
By G. Williams "guyzen" - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Although as a complete beginner most of this stuff isn't useful (yet) and some of it goes way over my head in terms of musical understanding; It does make for a good listen; the playing is interesting and thought provoking and well, beautifully recorded and played. It isn't far off being a short documentary but doesn't fall into one particular muscial genre (eg blues or jazz)
If nothing else it will inspire you to want to play.
