This large reference book is very modern. Nothing is missed out and it is everything that a professional would need to know. You must be patiant and really into Music Technology if you want to read this book cover to cover. It contains information in an accessible way. This includes diagrams and photographs. I think that a reader should already know the basics of this book before reading, as it is very complicated. If you are studying Music Technology or wish to become a midi-programmer, I can reccommend this book above all other midi books. There are many available, but this is the most accurate, the most interesting and the most professional. Midi is a very difficult concept to understand and the reader should be applying what they learn to real life situations. I reccommend that the reader uses midi or is going to. Then you can apply what you know to computer based sequencing or synthesizer technology. It also relates the topic to careers in the industry and education. It is complete with nothing missed out. It is organized into chapters which are arranged in an appropriate order so that you can learn step by step how to become a midi programmer. This book is not expensive and is used in the industry so anyone into Music Technology should get out their credit card now!
