Product Description

Product Description

Marriages come in all shapes and sizes, particularly marriages of convenience. Take Claire Barrington's situation: she needed protection from the advances of a local squire, while her dashing new husband Jay needed a wife to shield him from busybody matchmakers. It's a perfect plan...until it goes perfectly awry. For when Claire makes an unexpected visit to her husband's London home, the man she meets is not the man she married - although the brooding look-alike is just as attractive, if not more so...A stunned Jasper Barrington greets his "wife" and has no idea who she is. Her timing couldn't be worse: he is about to announce his engagement to another, yet Claire has documents to prove their union is legal. Then the truth dawns: it was his twin brother, Jason, who married the girl, using his name. And Jasper now has a wife, a fiance, and the devil of a problem. For the unwittingly seductive Claire is proving more than a disruption to his carefully-laid plans - she's quickly becoming a wholly pleasurable distraction...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read with a surprisingly dark edge., 20 Aug 2006

(REAL NAME)
A very well written book with great characters who have enough depth to make the book a stayer. The synopsis and blurb don't do the plot justice as it is spiced up by the dark characters of Squire Dorchester and the hero's (Jasper) almost fiancee. It has a good twist at the end, one that I missed until it was nearly upon me- and trust me- I usually see them coming! This is the first book by this author that i have read and I will definitely be buying more.

Simply put Clare finds herself married to the wrong brother(Jasper) as the one who stood next to her in the ceremony(Jason) put his brother's name on the certificate. When she turns up at his house in London Jasper is of course not pleased as he is in the process of negotiating a betrothal with another woman. Simple yes? No, because Basso throws in attempted murder and as I said above some really debauched characters to darken the whole book. This book is not the light read implied in the synopsis but neither is it as dark as others I've read. Definitely worth getting your hands on.

4.0 out of 5 stars really enjoyed this, 13 Jul 2009
By Sian Louise (UNITED KINGDOM) - See all my reviews

I purchased this book about 18 months ago, I finally got round to reading it and I have to say I throughly enjoyed it.
This was a new author for me, so didnt know what to expect.
I do love a good historical romance though. This book had a bit of everything, including the dashing but flawed hero. And both of the main characters were very likable which always helps :)

If you enjoy these type of books then you will love this one.
I look forward to reading Jason's story next.
