I've bought a lot of "learn photography books", and I can say that if you know how to use a camera and are very keen on producing pictures of a traditional quality (i.e. no shortcuts) then this book is perfect. Ansel Adams (also worth getting his series of 3 books) was extremely precise and thoughtful in his photography - and it shows. If you aren't adverse to a scientific way of treating photogrpahy, then I assure you that this book will suit everything you need.

If You are seriously determined to do something more with Your hobby, than this book is an absolute must. It is well written, surveyable, and has almost everything that an amateur can expect.
