The first section, The History of the Pharaohs, tells the story of Egypt from the union of the country in about 2920 BCE to the coming of the Romans almost 3,000 years later. Subjects covered include the power of the pharaoh, burial customs, the Egyptian army, and women of Egypt. The second section, A Journey Down the Nile, describes each part of Egypt by tracing the path of the Nile River. Among the areas presented are Lower Nubia, Thebes, and Memphis.
About the Author
Geraldine Harris studied Egyptology at Cambridge University and Oxford University. She is a regular guest lecturer on Nile Cruises and has been "writer in residence" at several British schools. She is the author of four children's books and three adult books on ancient Egypt. She currently teaches at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
