4.0 out of 5 stars British readers, politics within may be objectionable., 29 April 2003

(REAL NAME)
This encyclopedia is the obvious book to buy when wanting to focus on European film, not least because there is so very little competition. It is quality resource anyway however, every country's sections written by an expert from the respective nation, so the book is extremely well-informed. Unfortunately, for British readers the politics of its resident expert is on display, not only completetly out of place in a book that doesn't call for it, but in such a random manner that there can be no excuse. It has the potential to mar the appreciation of this book.
