Contents of Richard C. Adams' Delaware LegendsIn addition to the original text from the rare 1905 edition ofDelaware legends, this edition contains an introductory history of approximately 40 pages on the life of Richard Adams and his work for the Delaware Tribe. Also included are four of the legends translated back into the Lenape language--one by the late Nora Thompson Dean and three by Lucy Parks Blalock. The cover painting is by Ruthe Blalock Jones, a Delaware/Shawnee/Peoria artist. The translations contain the original Adams text, the line translated into the Lenape language, a literal translation, and a free translation. This allows the reader to see the transformation of the story from the Lenape language to modern English and to compare it to the type of language used by Adams at the turn of the century.
