4.0 out of 5 stars An honest and awkward story of Marilyn's rise to fame, 11 April 2001
The book is written simply and honestly and provides an insight into Marilyns own character and thoughts. It lacks detail in some areas and rushs though some aspects of her life. I would have liked it to be longer and continue until later in her life. (it ends at the war) However i enjoyed the book because it was written by Marilyn and shows a unique view that a biography wouldn't capture. If your looking for a detailed account of Marilyns entire life then go for another biography but if your interested in Marilyns own character and personality this book is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars a lovely insight into MM's character, 21 Nov 2003
This book is simply written, it makes you feel as if you know Marilyn herself and you're there with her throughout her struggles from childhood poverty to fame. The new version is let down slightly by the strong, unneeded profanities used in the foreword. There are few pics included, all are black and white. Be warned also, this book deals with the ugly side of MM's life, so expect adult issues, even though MM herself doesn't use profanities. A good book for MM fans that want a different perspective from the endless 'i knew her' books out there.
