Synopsis
Through an examination of the relevant literature and field studies covering a 25-year survey of a group of Scottish entrepreneurs, this book explores the concept of entrepreneurship. The author draws on the work of German sociologist Max Weber on the concept of charisma, which provides a framework within which to place the innovating economic entrepreneur. As a test of these ideas, a study of approximately 1000 companies newly registered in Scotland in 1969 was carried out, with emphasis on 60 entrepreneurs who founded independent businesses.
