5.0 out of 5 stars What is this book like?, 21 Feb 2003
By A Customer
I would recommend this book for bulimics who are serious about overcoming their eating problems. The first half of the book explains about why people binge eat/be sick so may help if a friend or someone reads it so they can try to understand how you feel. The second half of the book is a self help guide which you have to stick to day by day. It is about eating regularly and having organised, planned meals and snacks to stop the starve/binge etc cycle and accepting that if you eat "normally" like everyone else you will learn to eat sensibly without over-dosing on "forbidden" food. It slowly introduces forbidden food bit by bit into your diet so they are no longer forbidden and thus they don't feel so special anymore because they are in reach and you have a chance to say no to them if you don't want them.

4.0 out of 5 stars selfhelp, 17 Feb 2002
By A Customer
A cognitive-behavioural self-help [although it can be used with others like a friend or therapist] guide for people with bulimia or binge eating disorder. Very useful if you want to get better from one of these disorders, but you'll need to be motivated. But then if you are motivated enough then you can recover without this book. It might make it easier though. Otherwise it's also got some important information and warnings about the disorders. Like about brushing your teeth after vomiting and the instant death with bulimia thing.

3.0 out of 5 stars good book!, 3 Feb 2003
By A Customer
This is useful for anyone who has eating problems which they want to give up. For straight-forward information it is also good, although is probably more written towards bulimics who are trying to stop. Still has some good information though.
