Synopsis

IN

From the Author

Start in the right direction, and get the "inn-side"
We four authors each had different reasons for becoming innkeepers. What we left behind, what we found, and what we made of it tell the story of what innkeeping is about. For every innkeeper, the story is different. And that, in a way, is the point. So, whether you've already decided to take the plunge or have just started to dream about the possibilities, this is the book to read and study. Just a small taste: *You'll learn and refine how to evaluate and buy property; *how to renovate, furnish, and launch a new inn; *how to market and promote your business; *how to make your venture fulfilling for your guests and yourself. This revised and expanded THIRD edition also presents: 24 easy-to-use checklists; a chapter on including dinner service; essential tips on complying with the latest laws and regulations and hard-core, up-to-date financial information (from the Professional Association of Innkeepers International's biennial, national operations/financial study).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent practical advice for potential B&B entrepreneurs, 9 Jan 2002
By jpilliner@jet.es (Denia, Alicante, Spain) - See all my reviews
An excellent book giving practical advice covering ALL aspects of starting up a B&B or similar business. I live in Spain where there are different modalities of rural B&B businesses, but unfortunately very few self-help books on this subject, and I was able to apply most of the authors' advice to starting up my own, so the information(excepting different country regulations) can be used worldwide. Leaves very few questions unanswered. No need to attend any business or tourism course after reading this book. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for potential inn-keepers, 22 Jul 1998
By A Customer
This book separated the romantic notions of owning a B&B from the business end. It was eye opening and very informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best financial advice in a short book!, 26 April 1999
By A Customer
As an accountant, I really appreciated the financial planning section of the book. It has helped us to realistically assess different properties in making our investment decision. This book is a must for anyone seriously considering a bed and breakfast or a small inn. Being able to estimate costs and revenues up front is imperative for success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous and comprehensive from all aspects
Very comprehensive. Is better for those considering an "inn" vs. renting the spare bedroom.
