4.0 out of 5 stars A great childrens book (for adults), 25 Feb 2004
By Thomas Knight - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've just read this book in the bookshop, and I want to have it to keep. Not for my daughter necessarily (she's 9 months and quite happy with any book I read right now), but for myself. It's a lovely book, a sweet 70s twist on the original tale, nicely illustrated with a not-too-Grimm ending, but... how many small children really identify with the 70s? The herione listens to David Bowie (Alladin Sane from the illustration), and has a poster of John Travolta on the wall, will this strike a chord with the average young kid?

Anyway, do _yourself_ a favour and at least read this book. Me, I'm hoping someone buys it for me... at least until my daughter can read, then I may well just go ahead and buy it anyway. At least then I'll have a good excuse!
