This volume documents the extraordinary finds at this site, which covers approximately two square miles and is believed to contain up to 10,000 mummies.
About the Author
Dr Zahi Hawass is Egypt's Undersecretary of State for the Giza Monuments and his achievements include the discovery of the tombs of the workmen who built the pyramids and the tombs of some of Khufu's officials. He has also found a new cult pyramid of Khufu and evidence about how pyramids were built, including the Great Pyramids, as well as double statues of Ramses II. Just before the beginning the excavation of the Valley of The Golden Mummies at Bahariya Oasis, he completed the conservation of the great Sphinx at Giza. He is a popular lecturer throughout the world, especially in Europe and the United States. He appears frequently on television and is Egypt's media spokesman on archaeology. He also teaches archaeology at the University of California at Los Angeles and at Cairo University. He writes regularly for archaeology magazines and is the author of Silent Images: Women in Pharaonic Egypt.
